World Junior sprint double champion Briana Williams pulled out of last weekend’s Christmas Class Odd Distance meet.
Williams, who won the Tampere 2018 World U20 Championships 100m and 200m titles, was registered to run the 300m and 150m dash in Freeport, Bahamas.
However, failure on the part of the meet organizers to deliver on reasonable expectations led to the withdrawal.
Ato Boldon, Willimas’ coach, explained in this statement, posted on the athlete’s social media page.
“Freeport, Bahamas has a special place in our hearts.
Last year, we flew here to do our part in the hurricane Dorian relief effort, so when the opportunity came to compete here this year, it seemed like a great idea.
“Unfortunately, the organizers of this meet have failed to deliver on just about every reasonable expectation that there could be to host a decent track and field event, and as a result, I’ve decided to withdraw Briana from participation in this meet,” ended the statement from Boldon.
