Armand "Mondo" Duplantis Mondo Wins 2020 Opener, Nearly Sets World Record

Renaud Lavillenie, Sam Kendricks and Armand Duplantis are to take part in a virtual pole vault competition this Sunday (2 May).

The Ultimate Garden Clash – Pole Vault Edition will be streamed on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook at 5-6pm CEST.

World record-holder Duplantis will vault from his base in Lafayette, 2012 Olympic champion Lavillenie will compete in his garden in Clermont-Ferrand, and twice world champion Kendricks will be in Oxford, Mississippi.

Owing to the lack of officials available, the format – agreed between the trio – will be to try clear 5.00m as many times as possible within 30 minutes.

“I’m ecstatic to be able to compete again, especially against Sam and Renaud,” said Duplantis.

“Since it’s unknown what other competitions we will all have together, we definitely are going to enjoy this and have a good time with it. Also, winning this is crucial because I don’t like losing to them very much.”
