BATON ROUGE, La. – Briana Williams ran a personal best at Friday’s (14 Jan) LSU Purple Tiger Invitational in Carl Maddox Field House.

Williams’ time of 7.18 placed her third in the strong field. Aleia Hobbs ran 7.10 to break the field house record of 7.13.
Mikiah Brisco, Hobbs’ Tiger Olympians teammate, finished second in 7.17.

Briana Williams won her heat (3) in 7.20 seconds in the prelims. However, the fastest time was recorded by Aleia Hobbs of Tigers Olympians, 7.14 and Mikiah Brisco of Tigers Olympians, 7.19s.

A satisfied Briana Williams posted on social media, “first races in the books – 7.20 heat and 7.18=PR in the final.”
“Big thanks to LSU and coach Dennis Shaver for hosting a great meet.

“I may just open every indoor season here in the future,” she wrote.

 

Julian Forde won the men’s 60m dash in 6.70 ahead of his New Orleans teammate Ismael Kone, 6.71.

Kiara Bethley of Nicholls State, 26.75 and her teammate Amari Godette, 22.89, were the 200m winners.

Alia Armstrong ran 8.17 to beat her LSU’s teammate Leah Phillips, 8.41 in the women’s 60m hurdles.

Eric Edwards, also of LSU, topped the men’s 60m hurdles in 7.78 ahead of Arthur Price of Tiger Olympians, 8.11.

The women’s 400m went to Esther Nwanze of New Orleans, 59.34. Coy Sauceman of New Orleans took the men’s event at 50.70.

Christopher Murphy of New Orleans won the men’s long jump with 6.86m.
