In women’s competition at Pan Am Games, the top names are Jamaican sprinters, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson. Track and field action starts on Tuesday, 6 Aug.

Fraser-Pryce will run the women’s 100m and Thompson the 200m. US Champion Teahna Daniels is also in the 100m.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo against Shericka Jackson will clash in the 400m.

Hanna Green and Natoya Goule are the women’s 800m race favourites.

Americans Sharika Nelvis and Chanel Brissett are the leading contenders in the 100m hurdles.

World champion Kori Carter is in the 400m hurdles while Leverne Spencer will start favourite for the high jump title.

A lot is expected of Jamaican Daniel Dodd-Thomas in the shot put.

Caterina Ibarguen is the long/triple favourite. World champion Yulimar Rojas, however, will make her life tough in the triple.
