Sanique Walker will be leaving the island next week to take up her track and field scholarship with the University of Texas at Austin.

The World U18 400m hurdles silver medallist, who ran 57.27secs to top the U18 world chart in 2017, received her I20 this week.

Walker got the green light from the NCAA Clearinghouse after she submitted her last of nine CSEC passes, which was the science subject.

The former Vere Technical student represented Jamaica at the World U20 Championships in July. She made the semi-finals but had to withdraw with a hamstring injury.

She ended the year as the No. 8 world ranked U20 400m hurdler.
