Kim Collins, the 42-year-old evergreen sprinter from St. Kitts and Nevis who is still running after setting several retirement dates, provided an explanation after running 10.37 at the Jamaica Invitational on Saturday, 19 May 2018.

The 2001 World 100m champion explained his plans for the rest of the 2018 season. He made three Olympic Games finals and won four World Championships medals.

Collins has personal best times of 9.93, which is also St. Kitts and Nevis’ national record, 6.48 (60m), 15.03 (150m), 9.29 (100y).

Kim Collins breaks the 10secs barrier

Collins was the bronze medallist over 200m at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics and became the 100m champion at the 2002 Commonwealth Games with a run of 9.98 seconds, breaking the 10-second barrier for the first time.

He won a silver medal over 60 metres at the 2003 IAAF World Indoor Championships, before going on to take his outdoor crown. He also won sprint medals at the 2005 World Championships, 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships and 2011 World Championships.
