Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart have been ruled out of the Jamaica National Senior Championships with injuries.

Campbell-Brown, who won the 2007 World 100m title in Osaka, Japan, withdrew because of “discomfort in her right knee”.

“I was forced to withdraw from the JA National Senior Championships due to discomfort in my right knee,” Campbell-Brown tweeted on Thursday night.

Campbell-Brown was listed to run in heat 3 of the women’s 100m, which eventually went to Shashalee Forbes of GC Foster College in 11.34 ahead of Shavine Hodges, 11.54.

Stewart, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games 100m silver medallist, pulled out because of achilles tendon problems.

Stewart was entered in heat 2, also of the women’s 100m, which was won by Simone Facey in 11.22 ahead of Samantha Henry-Robinson, 11.41
