BEIJING, China – Bahamas’ Jeffery Gibson won bronze in the men’s 400 metres hurdles here at the 15th World Championships on Tuesday.
Gibson ran a national record of 48.17 seconds as he out-dipped Kerron Clement of the United States for the bronze.
The event was won by Nicholas Bett of Kenya who produced a good final 100 metres as he captured the gold in 47.79 seconds. Denis Kudryavtsev of Russia, who lead for most of the race was second in 48.05.
Interestingly, all three ran national record.
Gibson was very happy with his result. "The medal is a great achivement but I take it as the next stepping stone towards the future."
"I know I can perform much better, but there are few things I need to work on," he said
