Elaine Thompson To Skip Diamond League 100m final in Brussels (September 6)

Olympic Games sprint double champion Elaine Thompson-Herah ran a wind-aided 10.76 in the women’s 100m heats on Sunday at the Pure Athletics Sprint Elite Meet in Florida, USA.

Thomspon-Herah’s time, however, was supported by a +3.6m/s wind. Natalliah Whyte was second to Thompson-Herah in 11.04.

Ashanti Moore won heat 2 in 11.16 seconds, a time also supported by a strong wind of +3.3m/s.

In the final, Thompson-Herah ran 10.78 with a legal +1.8m/s wind. Whyte finished second in 11.08 and Ashanti Moore third in a personal best of 11.10.

Win for Russell

Janieve Russell won the women’s 400m hurdles. She ran 56.02 to beat Aminat Jamal 57.12.

In the men’s 200m, Jamaican Nigel Ellis ran 20.89 for fifth. Jaylen Slade won the event in 20.20 ahead of Lashawn Merritt, 20.55.

Natasha Morrison finished second in the women’s 200m with her 23.21 clocking. Shawnti Jackson topped the event in 23.15.
