Jamaica's Briana Williams tests positive for banned substance

SOUTH CAROLINA, USA – Briana Williams opened her 2020 season with a personal best run at today’s Clemson Orange and Purple Elite at Clemson University in South Carolina.

Williams stopped the clock in 7.27s, beating her previous best indoor 60m mark of 7.28s, set last year in New York.

She won her heat and qualified for the finals later today.

Jayla Kirkland of Florida State University, winner of heat 3, was the second fastest qualifier with 7.29. Gabriele Cunningham, the heat two winner, ran 7.36.

Another Jamaican, Jeanine Williams booked her place in the women’s 60m hurdles final with 8.11s. Tia Jones with 8.27secs was the next best.
