Kingston College's (KC) sprinter Zharnel Hughes, the Class 1 boys 100m champion, has pulled out of the 200m final set for today’s (29 March) final day of Jamaica’s High School Athletics Championships here in Kingston.

Hughes, who ran a Anguilla’s Senior and Champs Class 1 record of 10.12 to win on Friday night, according to source suffered a sight hamstring strain during the process. He was the big favorite for the 200m final. He ran 20.32 in the semi-final on Thursday.

“He is out of the rest of the Championships,” said the source, while adding “he suffered a strain hamstring during the 100m final on Friday night.

Hughes, who won both Carifta Games Under-20 and Pan Am Junior Championships titles in 2013, is training at Racers Track Club with Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Warren Weir. He is a member of the IAAF's Regional High Performance Training Centre in Kingston.
