NAIROBI (April 13) – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the current 100M world champion and world silver medalist in 200M, will participate in the 4th Kip Keino Classic continental tour.
The event is set to take place on May 13th at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi. This will be Fraser-Pryce’s second consecutive appearance in Kenya.
Fraser-Pryce set a world-leading 10.67 seconds during her last appearance at the Kasarani stadium. Fans can expect a thrilling performance from the Jamaican athlete as she competes against other world-class sprinters.
The Kip Keino Classic is the third gold-label continental series event, following Melbourne, Australia, and Botswana on April 29th. The event will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani in Nairobi.
Last year’s event featured Olympic 100M champion Marcel Jacobs of Italy and world 100M champion Fred Kerley of the USA.
One of the highlights of this year’s event is Ferdinand Omanyala, the Commonwealth and African champion, who aims to defend his title in the sprints for a second consecutive year. In 2021 he finished second behind Trayvon Bromell.
With Omanyala’s strong form, the sprints are expected to be highly competitive and full of fireworks.
