Olympic Games 400m champion Wayde van Niekerk is keen to resume racing at the international level.

He is working hard on becoming the first man to break the 43-second barrier for 400m.

“It’s definitely a priority for me because why am I still here if I’m not seeking growth?” said Van Niekerk per BBC.

“Growth should be improving my times within the 42-second range. That’s where my mind is at; that’s where my heart is at,” added the Beijing 2015 and London 2017 World Championships 400m champion.

The South African has not competed on the international circuit since suffering a knee injury while participating in a celebrity rugby match in October 2017. He got married the same weekend.
