Grenada’s 2011 World Championships 400m finalist, Rondell Bartholomew is eagerly anticipating a comeback to competitive track and field. Based on his season thus far, he believes that his period of virtual inactivity, has come to an end. His lone 200m done some two weeks ago, is being viewed as a sign of readiness.

Ever since a 6th place finish, as a 21 year old, at the Daegu World Championships in 2011, Bartholomew has struggled to get back into action. He experienced major injury scares for the next four years, and hopes to finally get back on the track.

He told Grenada Sports in an Interview; “I have been training but unfortunately in 2012, I tore my hamstring, it was very bad,”. He went on to state that; “2013, I started to run again but then my body couldn’t handle the pressure. I guess I didn’t take care of the injury properly and I hurt my leg again.”. He pulled out of the Commonwealth Games again because of Injuries he sustained.

Despite continued injuries, he still has a drive to succeed and was cited as saying; “The only motivation that kept me going is because I want to be the best and I know to myself that I think I could be the best just by my work ethic and I don’t believe that only talent could get one that far but I also work pretty hard and I stay focused.”

Additionally, he sees the recent success of rising NCAA 400m runner Braylon Taplin as well as that of 2012 Olympic Gold medallist and 2011 World Champion, countryman Kirani James as other factors which motivate him to succeed.
