COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After a thrilling opening day, Mississippi State track and field notched another winning performance on day two of the 2014 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships as senior Rochelle Farquharson claimed the women’s long jump title at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

Farquharson posted the best leap of the day with a personal-best 21-00.75 to land her a spot in third on the MSU all-time indoor list.

“I really could not be more proud of these girls,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “After an exciting day yesterday, they remained focused, came out here today and gave it their all. What an awesome day for Rochelle.”

Winning the SEC pentathlon title on Thursday, junior Erica Bougard finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 19-09.75.

Sophomore distance runner Cornelia Griesche finished seventh in the women’s 3000-meter run, clocking a 9:35.79. In her championship debut, freshman Lisa Ziegler followed Griesche in 16th (9:52.91). Junior Emma Neigel was 18th at 9:55.61.

Later in the day, senior Keisha Wallace posted the best 60-meter hurdles time for the Maroon and White women, finishing 12th in prelims (8.45). Her speed narrowly missed the cut to advance to Saturday’s event finals.

With 22 points, the Bulldogs will enter the final day of SECs in fourth place.
