The Corporate Area Athletic Games scheduled for Saturday February 15th 2014 is in need of serious financial help of save the meet.

The meet dubbed “Champs in one-day" is being seen in the track & field circle as “Urban Champs”. However, the meet is on the JAAA calendar as Corporate Development Meet, and according to George Forbes, ISSA's Competition's Director, the meet is "not a Games nor is it a Championships." Forbes said ISSA had given its blessings for a development meet.

The meet is for Corporate Schools only, which means girls powerhouse teams Holmwood, Vere, Edwin Allen and St. Jago will not be apart of the show.

On the boys side, however, the big three Calabar, Kingston College (KC) and Jamaica College (JC), along with Wolmer’s are already registered to enter the meet, which will have one relay team per school per class, and 2 athletes per school per event.

Ricky Martin, Chairman of the organizing committee and the point man at Anthrick Sports Management Group,  said they meet “may not happen as planned because a Major Sponsor has pulled out at the last minute.”
Martin is hoping a last minute resolution can be found before he make a final decision to inform all schools, other sponsors and the general public.

“I say this with deep regrets, disappointment, heartbreak, unless someone/company decide to come on board at last minute then the show will go on.”

This meet should see big names such as Javon Francis, World Championships 1600m relay silver medallist, World Youth 200m champion Michael O'Hara, both of Calabar, along with KC's Zharnel Hughes, the Carifta Games and Pan Am Champs 100m winner, on show.

Wolmer’s Girls, St. Andrew High, Immaculate, The Queens School and Alpha are also among the 33 schools to be confirmed already for the meet.

The CAAG runs off at 8:30am with the girls and boys 4x100m all classes and closes at 5:05pm with the final of the same events. The 4x400m open is set to start at 4:05pm while the sprint medley is set to go 10 minutes earlier.
