Shericka Jackson wins big at Jamaica trials 2022

KINGSTON, Jamaica – World 200-meter champion Shericka Jackson put in another impressive performance as she prepares for a busy track and field season, breaking a meet record in the process. Jackson clocked 50.92 seconds to win the women’s 400m at the Velocity Fest 12 on March 25, 2023.

Ahead of the meeting, the Jamaican athlete had set respective times of 53.11 in Kingston on January 28, and 52.05 in Spanish Town on March 11, as she looks to improve upon her performances ahead of the upcoming season. – Read Also: Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson finishes fourth in 60m indoor final

Challenged by Stacey-Ann Williams in the home stretch, Jackson was able to dig deep and seal the win, with Williams finishing second in 51.59 seconds. Janieve Russell took third place in 52.77 seconds.

Meanwhile, the women’s 200m dash was won by Commonwealth Games 400m champion Sada Williams of Barbados, who recorded a season’s best time of 22.98 seconds to take the victory in the three-section final.

Natasha Morrison and Tina Clayton, both training partners of Williams, finished second and third overall with times of 23.00 and 23.69 seconds, respectively.

Clayton, a two-time world U20 champion over the 100m, won the second section of the event, running into a -1.4 m/s headwind, while Olympic 4x100m relay gold medalist Briana Williams clocked 24.03 seconds to finish third in the heat and sixth overall.
