American speedster Sha’Carri Richardson admitted she is like a baby in the 200m. “In this company, I feel like a baby because there are so many girls that have done a time of 21 seconds,” she told journalists in Brusells.

Richardson’s 200m personal best is 22.00 flat, joint 36th fastest overall on the all-time list, headed by Flo-Jo’s 21.34. Her best this season, 22.11, is some way off the leading pack.

Elaine Thompson-Herah, 21.53 and Gabrielle Thomas, 21.61, two of the fastest all-time sprinters, achieved their personal best marks this season.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, 21.79 (19th on the all-time list overall), Christine Mboma, 21.81 (joint 20th) and Shericka Jackson, 21.82 (22nd), also ran personal best in 2021.

Sha’Carri Richardson will be running the 200m at the Brusells Diamond League on Friday and is hoping for a special outing.
Richardson, who showed great speed earlier this year in the 100 metres, is hoping an enthusiastic crowd will push her to her first run below the 22-second mark.

“At the start of a 200m, I am just as eager as for a 100m, and hopefully, I can prove it with a fast time,” she said.

“My coach and I are working really hard to do well on both distances, so I really want to go below 22 seconds.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s personal best over 100m is 10.72 seconds.
