Dina Asher-Smith stormed to an impressive 60m time at Friday’s (29 Jan) World Indoor Tour Gold meeting of the season in Karlsruhe, Germany.


Asher-Smith, who enjoyed an excellent start, separated herself and pulled away midway to take victory in 7.08secs, the fastest time in the world this year. The time is also a personal best for Asher-Smith.

Orlann Ombissa-Dzangue of France finished second in 7.16secs and Ajla del Ponte, third in 7.17secs.

The British star, who won the Doha World 200m title and finished second to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m, ran 7.11secs in the heats.

Neziri Nooralotta of Finland ran a new national record, 7.92 to win the women’s 60m hurdles. Tobi Amusan, a medallist in Doha 2019, finished second in 7.94.

Elliot Giles of Great Britain ran a world lead 1:45.50 to take the top spot in 800m.

Cuban Juan Miguel Echevarria leapt 8.18m, a new world leader, to win the men’s long jump. Maykel Masso, also of Cuba, recorded a personal best 8.08m for seconds place.

Former Martinique Carifta Games champion, Wilhem Belocian, now representing France, ran 7.49 to win the men’s 60m hurdles. American Aaron Mallett was second in 7.59.

Doha 2019 World 110m hurdles champion Grant Holloway has the indoor world lead of 7.35, and Allen Johnson is the meet record holder with 7.38.
