PHILADELPHIA, United States – Five Jamaican schools qualified for the boys’ Championship of America 4x800m final here on Saturday at the Franklin Field Stadium.

St. Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) boys are expected to start favourites, but St. Jago, even without Keenan Lawrence, and Calabar cannot be counted out of the contest.

Kingston College (KC) and Jamaica College (JC) are also in the final.

STETHS’ victory, the second fastest time of the day, 7:43.99secs, was set up by Shemar Salmon (1:54.40), Denvare Robinson (1:53.55), Jauavney James (1:54.57) and Rayon Buttler (2:01.48).

Calabar recorded 7:44.48, the third best time of the day, thanks to Gawayne Porter (1:58.83), Javontaye Williams (1:53.98), Devannah Gayle (1:58.02) and Kimar Farquharson (1:53.67).

KC qualified with 7:44.85, St. Jago ran 7:48.74 and JC 7:44.52 to secure their spots.

Oxon Hill of Maryland with 7:40.35 leads the teams into Saturday’s final.
