JUNGFRAUJOCH – One day after his second place finish at the Lausanne Diamond League, Jamaican star Asafa Powell took on an icy challenge against three-time Olympic cross-country-ski champion Dario Cologna.

They met on the Jungfraujoch at 3454 metres above sea level to compete in a 100m. Cologna started on snow while Powell started on a specially created tartan track.

Also in action were Swiss light-athlete Mujinga Kambundji with her 4×100 metres relay teammates and Swiss-wrestling King Kilian Wenger.

The exciting race ended in a photo finish.

Asafa Powell, who had never before run at this altitude and came into contact with cross-country skiing for the first time, was absolutely thrilled: "I could imagine training up here on the Jungfraujoch in the summer," he said with a wink. Informs the official website of Jungfraujoch.
