JOHANNESBURG, March 27 – Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo stole the spotlight at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix (WACT Challenger) with a blazing performance, clocking a world-leading time of 19.94 (-1.2) in the 200m.

The double World medalist left South Africa’s Akani Simbine trailing behind in second place with a time of 20.32.

Former 400m hurdles World medalist Abderrahmane Samba of Qatar showcased his prowess in the 400m, clinching victory in 45.55. Belgium’s Jonathan Sacoor was not far behind, clocking 45.78 in a separate heat. ALSO READ: Edwin Allen and Kingston College Triumph at Champs 2024

The home crowd had reasons to cheer as well, with Cheswill Johnson emerging victorious in the 100m with a time of 10.18 (1.3). Le Roux Hamman continued the South African success by dominating the 400m hurdles in 49.40.

Olympic medalist Patryk Dobek showcased his talent in the 600m, securing the win in 1:15.91. Great Britain’s Alex Botherill claimed victory in the 800m with a time of 1:46.13.

The Polish men’s team impressed in the 4x100m relay, crossing the finish line in 39.21. Burger Lambrechts delivered a stellar performance in the shot put, reaching a distance of 20.13 meters.

In the women’s events, Laviai Nielsen took the top spot in the 200m with a time of 23.32. South Africa electrified the crowd by setting a new national record in the mixed 4x400m relay, crossing the line in 3:14.97.
