Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake has slammed world athletics chief Sebastian Coe for taking away track and field disciplines such as the 200 metres from next year's Diamond League.

Jamaica’s former world 100m champion Yohan Blake will have a new manager for the start of the 2022 track and field season.

Cubie Seegobin, who had been Yohan Blake’s manager since he left St. Jago High in 2009, revealed in a statement on Wednesday (November 10) that he is no longer playing that role.

“After 12 years, during which as a team we achieved tremendous successes, I wish to announce that I no longer represent Mr Yohan Blake,” said Seegobin in a statement.

He made it clear both parties “separated amicably on August 13, 2021.”

Blake was the Daegu 2011 world 100m champion, the youngest ever, and won silver medals in both the 100m and 200m behind Usain Bolt at the London 2012 Olympic Games. He is the second-fastest man of all time, with personal bests of 19.26 in the 200m and 9.69 over 100m.

He also helped Jamaica to back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the 4x100m at both London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games. He was also a member of the winning team in the sprint relay at the Daegu 2011 World Championships.

Blake won two bronze (100m and 4x100m) medals at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018 and two 2014 World Relays gold medals (4x100m and 4x200m) in the Bahamas.

The former St. Jago star also enjoyed an outstanding junior career, winning gold medals at CARIFTA, CAC and World Junior Championships.

“As a team, along with legendary coach Glen Mills, Mr Blake created history by becoming the youngest man ever to win the 100m world title. He also bagged silver medals in the sprints, and gold as part of the world record-breaking sprint relay team (36.84) at the London 2012 Olympic Games,” Seegobin continued.

“Today he remains the joint second-fastest all-time over 100m and the second-fastest ever over 200m. Without question, one of the all-time greats, and I take this opportunity to publicly wish Mr Blake nothing but the best in his future endeavours.”

Blake enjoys endorsement deals with Adidas and Richard Mille, a luxury watch company.
