MONTPELIER, France – Kevin Mayer hopes the Olympic Games will delay, informed L’Equipe.

“I would really like them to postpone the Games,” he said.

Mayer does not have the qualifying standard for the decathlon at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and will not be able to compete in the two decathlons he had planned in the United States at the start of April.

He added: “You have to realise that sport, all of our daily leisure activities, is all very well, but here we are talking about health and the international crisis.”

Several sporting events have been cancelled or postponed due to the deadly coronavirus, which has so far affected 182,438 people and caused 7,157 deaths.
