Holmwood wins 4x400 at Penn Relays 2019

Holmwood upstaged Hydel to win the High School Girls’ 4×400 Championship of America title on Friday’s penultimate day at the 125th Penn Relays.

Danaille Brissett, Daniella Deer, Rickiann Russell (55.07) and Kavia Francis (53.61) took Holmwood across the line safely in 3:37.20secs.

The victory was Holmwood’s six overall and third in the last 10 years.

Hydel, the overwhelming favourites, found things tough on the cold rainy evening finish second in 3:38.01.

Oneika McAnnuff (54.3), Garriel White (55.4), Tafarra Rose (56.21) and Charokee Young (52.08) were the quartet for Hydel, who was seeking third straight title.

Spalding with Ramonia Clarke, Kimone Campbell, Cheriece Cope (56.63) and Annie-lie Waite (56.70) finished third in 3:43.83.
