Christopher Taylor in for World U20 Championships gold

TAMPERE, Finland – Christopher Taylor said his silver medal “means a lot to me going forward.” Taylor ran 45.38secs for second at the IAAF World U20 Championships on Friday (13 July).

“I’ve had a great season and to come to get a medal, I’m happy with the result,” said Taylor.

The Calabar student set two Jamaican junior records – 44.88 to win the senior men’s 400m at Jamaica Championships and 10.11 over 100m – this season.

Taylor, the only sub-45 man in the field, faded in the last few metres to lose out to Jonathan Sacoor of Belgium, who ran a national record 45.03.

“This teaches me a lot – I was training for the 200m so it’s great to get a 400m medal. I want to do some real damage in the future, for sure. I’m feeling pleased, as this is a good achievement for me – it’s just today the Belgian was too strong for me.
