In a significant move poised to reshape the landscape of the global running industry, European Athletics, the Running Industry Alliance (RIA), and Running USA have announced a pioneering partnership. This collaboration is set to enhance the business aspects of running on an international scale, representing a major step forward in fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth within the sector.

The partnership marks a first-of-its-kind endeavor among these leading organizations, with a focus on Business-to-Business (B2B) initiatives within the running industry. Each entity brings its own set of annual or biennial business conferences to the table, with plans to mutually support each other through sharing best practices, cross-promotion, and various resources including content, suppliers, services, and sponsors.

This strategic alliance aims to bridge gaps within the industry, offering a unified front for industry leaders, stakeholders, and members. The collaboration is expected to unlock unparalleled networking opportunities, spark thought-provoking discussions, and provide access to the latest insights and trends that are driving the global running market.

Rebecca Richardson, Co-Lead of Running Industry Alliance UK & Ireland, emphasized the potential of this partnership, stating, “Together, we will empower businesses, foster collaboration, and inspire positive change within the running industry business ecosystem. We all compliment each other through conference connection and focus, and we will create greater reach by a collaborative approach whilst still remaining independent to our members, associations and alliances.”

Echoing Richardson’s sentiments, Running USA Executive Director Jay Holder highlighted the benefits for members, noting the importance of delivering value and sharing successes. Holder expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative potential of the alliance, anticipating an increase in shared content, best practices, and productive discussions.

The collaboration will see Running USA offering its member rates to all members of the Running Industry Alliance, along with reciprocity on select member benefits. Running Industry Alliance UK & Ireland will extend similar courtesies to Running USA members.

Christian Milz, CEO of European Athletics, shared his vision for the partnership’s impact on the running sector. “European Athletics shares a vision with Running USA and Running Industry Alliance on the continued growth and development of running,” Milz stated. He underlined the importance of running as a vital branch of athletics that connects with a broad demographic, offering extensive commercial opportunities and valuable services to the running community worldwide.

With the European Running Business Conference (ERBC) serving as a key platform for industry players in Europe, the partnership aims to extend its influence globally. By sharing knowledge and resources, the collaborative effort seeks to position itself at the forefront of the international running industry, delivering best practices and leading innovation across continents.
