Rhasidat Adeleke, a sophomore at the University of Texas, shattered her Irish record in the women’s 400m final at the Big 12 Championships, posting a Meet Record of 50.33s. The impressive victory also saw her breaking the meet record, setting a new personal best.

Kennedy Simon, a senior at the University of Texas, finished second with a time of 51.01s, while Imaobong Nse Uko, a sophomore at Baylor University, finished third with a time of 52.19s.

Adeleke dominated the race from the start, leading the pack with an impressive first lap time of 23.62s. She maintained her lead in the second lap and crossed the finish line with a time of 50.33s, securing the top spot on the podium and earning 10 points for her team.

Simon put up a strong fight and finished just over half a second behind Adeleke with a time of 51.01s, earning eight points for her team. Uko also put in a solid performance, crossing the line in third place with a time of 52.19s and earning six points for her team.

Baylor University dominated the men’s 400m final, with Matthew Moorer leading the way to victory in impressive fashion. Moorer clocked a time of 45.66 seconds, earning 10 points for his team and finishing ahead of his teammate Hasani Barr who crossed the line in 45.71 seconds to claim second place and 8 points.

Nathaniel Ezekiel completed a Baylor sweep of the top three spots, taking third place with a time of 45.77 seconds and earning 6 points for his team. Moorer, who ran a strong first half of the race, held off his competitors down the final straightaway to secure the win. With their strong showing in the event, Baylor earned a total of 24 points.
