In the final Diamond League meeting before Jamaica’s national trials, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce equalled her season’s best in the 100 meters on Saturday in the Paris Diamond League as she scorched to the finish in an unchallenged 10.67 seconds.

She also broke compatriot and rival Elaine Thompson-Herah’s meet record of 10.72 set last season.
Fraser-Pryce owns the two fastest times this season as Jamaican trials in June and World Championships loom in Eugene this July as she goes for her tenth World Championships gold medal.
Fraser Pryce led from the gun and further separated with each 10 meters she advanced. Young British sprinter Daryll Neita powered down the stretch with her top-end speed to edge out the ever-fast-starting Marie Jose Ta Lou and 60-meter star Ewa Swoboda, 10.99 to 11.01 and 11.05, respectively.

Trinidad and Tobago athlete Michelle Lee Ahye finished fifth in 11.07.
“I am still training hard so I am now looking forward to the national championships and then afterwards,” said Fraser-Pryce to reporters.
Given that she is the reigning world champion from Doha 2019 in this event, she likely won’t even compete in it at Jamaican Nationals next week, as she does strength work in the 200m.
“The fans were so nice here, I enjoyed tonight. The plan and the aim are to make sure that I am able to run 10.60 sustainably,” she said.

The Bahamas was the story of the rest of the meet as far as the Caribbean was concerned. Both male and female Olympic Champions in the quarter-mile took command of their races as expected. Steven Gardiner won in 44.21 seconds, while Shaune Miller-Uibo crossed the line first in 50.10.
Not too far behind Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan’s new African record of 12.41, another Bahamian, Devynne Charlton, finished second in 12.63 in the 100-meter hurdles.
