Randolph Ross, coached by his father Duane Ross, ran a scintillating 43.85 to beat Bryce Deadmon of Texas, 44.44 and Noah Williams of LSU, 44.93 in the men’s 400m final.

LSU’s Terrance Laird missed the sprint double. He ran 10.05 to beat Shaun Maswanganyi of Houston, 10.09 and Micah Williams of Oregon, 10.11 in the men’s 100m.

Laird was beaten in the men’s 200m by Joseph Fahnbulleh of Florida, 19.91 to 19.92.
