Sydney McLaughlin Will Bypass World Juniors, Focus On Rio Olympic Games

AZUSA, USA – Sydney McLaughlin won the women’s 100m hurdles, and Candace Hill topped the 100m at Saturday’s (17 April) Bryan Clay Invitational.

McLaughlin, Doha 2019 400m hurdles silver medallist, stepped down to 100m hurdles to set a winning PB of 12.92 (+0.2). She won her heat of the 400 with 51.16.

Hill won her heat of 100m in 11.13 (+0.5) over Vitoria Rosa 11.20.

Nick Ponzio won the shot with 21.28m.

Brazilian Paulo André de Oliveira won the 100m in 10.12 (windy 10.05 +2.4 in heats) from Ameer Webb (10.13), the latter going quicker in the heat at 10.09 (+0.8).

Among other winners were Briton James Young (3:37.72 PB/1500m), Mexican Fernando Daniel Martinez (13:30.71 PB/5000m) and Khallifah Rosser (49.71/400m hurdles).

Brazil clocked 38.66 in the 4×100 m. Malaina Payton confirmed top long jump shape with 674 (+1.7). Grace Barnett topped the 1500 m in 4:06.95 PB and Mexican Andrea Ramirez the 10 000 m in 32:15.67 PB.
