Stephenie Ann McPherson ran away with the women’s 400m crown at Saturday’s (24 Aug) Paris Diamond League Meeting.

The former Jamaica champion stopped the clock in 51.11 seconds to beat Americans Kendall Ellis, 51.21 and Shakima Wimbley, 51.50.

“It was a pretty tough race tonight,” McPherson explained.

“I put in some hard work all week because I’m getting ready for Doha. So, it was a really hard effort today.

“But in the end, it’s a victory, so I’m very happy. I beat some of the girls I will race against next month in Doha. So, I’m feeling good et confident,” McPherson concluded.

American world champion Phyllis Francis, who skipped the event at the US Trials, finished fourth in 51.56.

Bahamians Shaunae Miller-Uibo has the wold lead of 49.05 and Tonique Williams-Darling is the meet record holder with 49.15 from 2004.
