KINGSTON – The events and scheduled times for the 2016 Jamaica International Invitational – IAAF World Challenge Meeting – at the National Stadium here in Kingston on Saturday 7 May.

The meeting, which has always attracted several world-class athletes since its first organized event in 2004, has once again put together a very strong group this year, despite the likes of Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake, the country’s two fastest male sprinters over the 100m and 200m, not available.

Early action on Saturday begins at 2:00 pm local time with the international Hammer Throw for women, with the International Javelin for men going off at 4:15 pm.

A 20-minute opening ceremony is set to run from 6:30 to 6:50 and that will kick-off the main events at the meeting.

At 7:00 the women’s international Shot Put will get going, while the men will go off in the Triple Jump at 7:03.

The first running event is slated for 7:06 and this will be the men’s 3000m Steeplechase, which will be followed by the women’s and men’s international 400m Hurdles.

The invitational 100m races are at 8:11 and 8:15, with the 200m set for 8:53 and 9:03.

This year’s Jamaica International Invitational will close out with the 400m invites at 9:14 and 9:23.

The meeting moved from being an IAAF Area Permit Meet in 2004 to the adjusted IAAF World Challenge series in 2011.
