The National Hugo Chambers Memorial 5K, 2 mile and 1 mile runs, will be held on November 1st, 2015 at 1.00pm.

The 28th running of the 5K race is a tribute to the memory of the late Hugo Chambers, outstanding student, Old Boy and Headmaster of Jamaica College. He was a well known sportsman and sports administrator extraordinaire, who made a significant contribution to the development of sports in Jamaica.

This exciting series of races is expected to attract over 450 participants. With the 5K race starting on Mona Road and finishing at Jamaica College, 189 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6. The race will feature Jamaica's top middle distant runners. Last year's winners were Chadoye Dawkins (male) and Britnie Dixon(female). The one-mile race for our Special Olympic Athletes and children aged 12 will be starting at 1.30pm.

The latest addition as of 2012 to the event is the 5K walk and the changing of the 10K to a 5K. Also the 2 mile race for 13 to 19 year old runners was added in 2009. This event was started based upon the demand of coaches who saw this as a necessary addition to the road race calendar. The 2 mile race start at 2.30pm and is expected to have over 250 runners with male and female races being run separately.

Once again we will have a wheelchair category in the 5K for male and female athletes. The race is presented by the Jamaica College Sports Development Committee.

Continental through its brand National is the title sponsor for this year’s event.
