The meet has been home to some of the top local and international athletics clubs and athletes that have become accustomed to this easy method of registration which facilitates all participants.

The UWI Mona Campus stages this Meet as a means of facilitating Jamaican athletes’ participation and subsequent development beyond the high school level through organised, quality competition. The meet facilitates athletes at the Collegiate and Olympic developmental level, competing ahead of national, regional and international events.

1988 Seoul Olympics 200 meters silver medallist and head of the UWI Sports Development Unit, Grace Jackson, OD is already excited ahead of this year’s staging.

“I don’t think I have been more excited about the meet than I am for this 14th staging. I think it is perfectly positioned in a time when athletes are looking to discover and maintain their best forms. We are expecting quite a turnout of elite clubs and athletes as they continue to prepare themselves to push for places in the World Relays and IAAF World Championships teams later this year,” said Jackson.
