Former Olympic 100m champion Justin Gatlin has been confirmed for May's Jamaica International Invitational Meet (JIIM). He ran at the meet in 2006.
In a release today, the organizers said Gatlin “was confirmed as the new addition to the already impressive list of athletes set to compete at the Jamaica International Invitational Meet.
“Justin Gatlin will compete in the 100m event at this year’s Invitational Meet scheduled for the National Stadium, Kingston on Saturday May 3, 2014,” ended the release.
Gatlin, who is also a two-time World indoor champion in the 60m, has a 100m personal best of 9.79 seconds. Gatlin, at the 2012 US Olympic Games Trials, ran 9.80secs, the fastest time for a man over 30-year-old. He went on to win bronze in the London Olympic Games 100m final behind Jamaicans Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.
Earlier this week, Fraser-Pryce, Felix, Richards- Ross, Merritt to headline Jamaica International, were announced as the first set of big names.
