DUSSELDORF, Germany – Pole vault star Piotr Lisek is the latest withdrawal from the Dusseldorf meet due to an injury.

He suffered a minor hip injury at the jumps meeting in Cottbus, Germany, last Wednesday, forcing a withdrawal there.

An initial doctor’s visit found nothing but upon further examination, a specialist suggested he sit on the sidelines for at least two weeks.

Given that news, Lisek’s team decided to scrap the indoor season entirely and come back strong for the outdoor campaign.

Meanwhile, at Monday meeting, the presidium of the Russian athletics federation made the decision to voluntarily resign.
