NEW YORK - Former Penn State star Aleesha Barber, now Trinidad and Tobago's top hurdler and aspiring Olympian, is finally back in business after dealing with injuries earlier this year.

TrackAlerts.Com caught up with the sprinter after her recent performance in New York City, where she explained that despite dealing with a slight injury just two weeks prior, she is back in training and doing well.
"I strained my hamstring in late January, and I've been out of the swing of things up until just a few days ago", she said.
Barber's first race after returning to training was at the 105th annual Millrose Games on February 11th. She placed 7th in the 60mH with a time of 8.33 despite having a limited window of time to prepare for the race. When asked about her thoughts on the race, she said "I didn't react well but it was definitely a learning experience.
I didn't have the best start, but with the race being so quick I didn't have the time to fix it".
With her goal for the season being to make the finals in the 60MH at the IAAF world indoor championships from March 9-11 in Turkey, the next stop for Trinidad's top hurdler will be the 'last chance' meet at Virginia Tech in a few weeks.
Barber however, did have a message for her fans and Track and Field lovers in the Caribbean; "don't forget about me, I'm working very hard. This hamstring strain was just one small hiccup but I am 100% back now".
