World-Class Sprinter: Abby Steiner

Olympic Games champion Hansle Parchment and world champion Danielle Williams will be joined by four former world champions — Tobi Amusan, Fred Kerley, Nia Ali, and Dina Asher-Smith — as headliners for the Jamaica Athletics Invitational set for May 11 in Kingston, Jamaica.

The Jamaica Athletics Invitational announcement was made by Marvin Anderson, the athletes’ liaison officer, during the launch event held this morning at the AC Hotel by Marriott Kingston on Thursday, 11 April.

Parchment, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games 110m hurdles champion, will compete in that event, while Williams, who won last year’s Budapest 2023 world 100m hurdles title, will also take her marks in this event. Amusan, coached by former Jamaican sprint hurdler Lecena Golding-Clarke, will join Williams in the women’s 100m hurdles, where she is the world record holder and Eugene 2022 world champion. Ali, the Doha 2019 world 100m hurdles champion, will also compete in this lineup.

Asher-Smith, the Doha 2019 world 200m champion, and Kerley, who surprised many by winning the Eugene 2022 world 100m crown, will compete in the 100m or 200m races.
