BEIJING, China – Jamaica’s Danielle Williams is the world 100m hurdles champion. But to Williams, coached by Lennox Graham, “I still cannot believe it“

“When I crossed the line I had no idea I won…then I just saw my name on the large screen and it was a great feeling,” she said.

Williams topped the impressive field in a personal best 12.57 seconds, two hours after running 12.58 to win her semi-final.

USA, the home for the sprint hurdles queens, failed to pick up a medal as Cindy Roleder of Germany 12.59 and Alina Talay of Belarus 12.66, were the other medal winners.

“I am sure when I came here nobody knew who I was, I am pretty sure,” added Williams.

“I came here only with one target, to get to the final,” she continued.

Williams also hailed her sister and training partner Shermaine, who was also a finalist, for her contribution.

“There will be a big celebration for sure, my family is dancing, and shouting, celebrating – it seems they are even happier than I am,” said Williams.
