VCB runs world leading 10.86

CLERMONT, Florida - Veronica Campbell-Brown ran a world leading 10.86 seconds today (7 June) at the Star Athletics International Sprint Series meeting here in Florida, USA (See race Video below).

Campbell-Brown, the former two-time Olympic Games 200m champion, who spent 10 months on the sidelines before having a two-year ban overturned in February, beat American Sholonda Solomon 11.16 and Jessica Young 11.18. The wind reading was 2.0m/s.

Campbell-Brown whose pervious best 2014 time was 11.14 done in Beijing last month, beat the then world leading mark of 11 secs flat, done in April, by compatriot Samantha Henry Robinson.

Jamaicans Indira Spence 13.09 and Natasha Ruddock 13.23 were second and 5th respectively in the women’s 100m final. Mikel Thomas of Trinidad & Tobago did 13.43 for 4th in the men’s 110m hurdles final, won by Rashard Marshall in 14.23.

Bahamian Demetrius Pinder won the men’s 400m in 45.89 ahead of Calvin Smith 46.18 and Jarrin Solomon of Trinidad & Tobago 46.20. American Kerron Clement did 46.57.
