LUZERN (SUI, Jul 15) – Asafa Powell made his long anticipated return before a capacity crowd at Tuesday's Spitzenleichtathletik meet (EA Classic).

The former 100m world record holder tied for third in his race in 10.30 (-0.8) with Keston Bledman. Powell former training partner at MVP Julian Forte won the race in 10.24 ahead of Antoine Adams of St. Kitts and Nevis 10.29. In other races, Kemar Hyman of Cayman Islands had the fastest time of 10.23 (-0.8) and in another race Marvin Bracy 10.26 (0.0). 

In the women's event, World leader and unbeaten this season Michelle-Lee Ahye got 11.09 (-0.7) ahead of Tianna Bartoletta 11.20. 

In the 200m, Ahye also won in 22.77 (-0.9) and equaled her PB, but limped after the finish-line with a cramp. Anthonique Strachan of Bahamas was second in 22.99 and Veronica Campbell-Brown, 6th in 23.13. 

Other Olympic winners dominated. Jenn Suhr with 4.60m in the pole vault (over Nicole Buchler 4.50m), Brittney Reese 6.46m (-0.7) in the long jump and Valerie Adams in shot put 20.42m (52nd win a in a row over Yevgeniya Kolodko 19.08m and Trinidad & Tobago's Cleopatra Borel 18.72m).

Meanwhile, 400m specialist Wayde van Niekerk won the 200m main race in 20.60 (-0.9) over Jamaican champ Rasheed Dwyer 20.76. But faster in other race German Julian Reus 20.55 (-0.8). 

In the sprint hurdles, first European win for Aleec Harris 13.28 (-0.8) beating Orlando Ortega in a tie with Shane Brathwaite 13.30 followed by Jamaican Andrew Riley 13.31. 

South African Cornel Fredericks got the 400m hurdles in 49.03 ahead of Roxroy Cato 49.09 and Annsert Whyte 49.51. 

In women's 100m hurdles, Kristi Castlin 12.81 (0.0) over Olympic winner Sally Pearson 12.90 and World champion Brianna Rollins 12.95. 

US win also at 400m hurdles for Georganne Moline in 55.28 ahead of Cassandra Tate 55.43 and South African Wenda Nel 55.63.
