KINGSTON, Jamaica – $26,048,095 million was presented to Cornwall Regional’s Neo Natal Unit and Jamaica Kidney Kids Foundation today at the awards ceremony for the 17th staging of Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run at Emancipation Park in Kingston.
Representatives of the Run’s 2015 beneficiaries Dr Mayolynne Miller of Jamaica Kidney Kids Foundation and Dr Tracey Evans-Gilbert of Cornwall Regional Hospital were on hand for the symbolic presentation.
“We are totally overwhelmed by the support, because at the present time it is the Foundation that purchases majority of the supplies that are needed for these poor children and we need help,” said Dr Miller.
Meanwhile, Evans-Gilbert also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Neo Natal Unit of Cornwall Regional Hospital. “I just want to thanks Sigma and Jamaica, I can’t express my gratiude. You are helping a lot of little babies,” said Gilbert.
Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run also saw the largest amount of registrants this year, with just under 24,000 individuals enrolling to support its ‘Save Our Children, Save Our Future’ 2015 tagline. The 5.5k walk, run and wheel chair road race also received immense support with over 2,000 volunteers, sponsors and assistance from corporate Jamaica.
