Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) is no longer sponsors for the Eastern Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.

Now the Eastern Secondary Schools’ Sports Association, which had JNBS 29 consecutive years, will be forced to find new sponsors for the February 16 and 17 Championships.

According to TrackAlerts.Com sources, JNBS decided to withdraw because they weren’t getting enough from their sponsorship.

At last year’s launch, Leon Mitchell, Assistant General Manager, JNBS, said championship events such as this one also provide an opportunity to improve financial literacy among students and encourage thrift at an early stage.

Last year JNBS launched its School Saver’s Promotion for schools in championships; however, our sources said that initiative did not go well.

Mitchell, a week before at the launch, was quoted as saying, “We live in a society where our people are not saving, although they know that they should, and through events like these we can introduce our children to these good habits, so that they can be better prepared for the future,” he stated.

JPS also withdraw their sponsorships less than three years ago.
