Kim Collins, the 2003 World 100m champion, was selected by St. Kitts and Nevis for World Champs in Beijing. It was confirmed by his management.
The fastest sprinter for his age, 39, will represent his country for the first time at a global event since 2011 World Championships where he won bronze in both the 100m and the 4x100m relay. Since the 2012 Olympic Games, because of disputes with national federation, he was not selected to compete at championships, indoors or outdoors.
Finally this year, that situation ended. For Collins, this will be his 8th World Championships as he competed in all stagings from 1999 until 2011.
His season best is 9.98, achieved when winning the national championships. It is also the fastest 100m time ever by a 39 year old sprinter. This year indoors he even clocked his personal best 6.47 in the 60m.
