KINGSTON, Jamaica – Veronica Campbell-Brown’s legal team is unhappy with the slow pace the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is taking to respond to the public warning issued to its client regarding the athlete’s doping case.
PJ Patterson, the lead attorney for Campbell-Brown, said the legal team had written to the IAAF seeking clarification regarding the length of time it is taking to respond to the ruling which was handed down.
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s Disciplinary Committee, which was headed by former Chief Justice Lensley Wolfe and included president of the Medical Association of Jamaica Dr Aggrey Irons and attorney Lincoln Eatmon, recommended on October 2, a public warning for Campbell-Brown.
Campbell-Brown was tested positive at last May’s Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston.
"The disciplinary committee has issued a ruling that Veronica Campbell-Brown has committed an anti doping violation contrary to IAAF Rule 32.2a. They have recommended that a reprimand without any period of ineligibility would be appropriate. All relevant parties involved have been duly informed," read a JAAA release.
The findings are now with the IAAF Doping Review Board, but according to Patterson, a former Prime Minister of Jamaica, it is taking far too long.
