MONTEGO BAY; Jamaica: Veronica Campbell, two time Olympic Games 200m champion, has resumed training with her sights on next year’s World Indoor Championships in Doha.
Campbell-Brown, winner of the Athens (2004) and Beijing (2008) Olympic Games 200m titles, said things are progressing smoothly in training.
Speaking recently on her trip to Jamaica where she made presentations to primary schools, she said “I resumed training two or three weeks ago and I am pleased with how things are going so far”.
Campbell-Brown, who has won at all levels, except the World Indoors, at which she is yet to compete, is looking forward to the event (March 12-14) with great expectations.
“I haven’t run indoors in a long time and since it will be a lighter year, meaning there will not be any major outdoor championships, my management and I have decided it would be good to have some fun indoors,” she added.
She had won gold in the 100m at the World Championships in Osaka (2007), the 100m at the World Youths (1999) in Bydgoszcz, Poland and the sprint double at the 2000 World Juniors in Santiago, Chile.
Campbell-Brown is now taking orders from Anthony Carpenter in Atlanta, having switched just over a month ago from Lance Brauman, who guided her for the last six years.
