ST LUCIA: Zepherinus Joseph, St Lucia’s top distance runner, targets his fifth consecutive Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) half-marathon later this month.
Joseph said the US$9,363 winning prize race, set for November 15, is very important, referring to it as “always been a priority on the calendar for me and I just want to go out there and retain my title”.
Joseph, last year, took the event in one hour, seven minutes, 44.14 seconds to defeat Trinidad and Tobago’s Curtis Cox.
Grenadines’ veteran Pamenos Ballantyne, once the Caribbean’s top distance man, finished fourth last year, but should be back this year for a better result.
Christine Regis of Trinidad and Tobago should also return to defend her women’s crown.
