Posted by MONTE-CARLO: The prestigious annual World Athletics Gala, set for Sunday 22 November 2009,will be hosted at the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Club d’Eté, Monte-Carlo by International Athletic Foundation (IAF) Honorary President HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAF & IAAF President Lamine Diack.
The highlight of the evening will of course be the announcement of the Male and Female World Athletes of the Year 2009, with the winning names being announced live on stage. The Gala will also give the global Athletics family the opportunity to honour other outstanding athletic achievements via a number of other awards.
North American, Central American and the Caribbean (NACAC) region athletes, Usain Bolt, who broke the men’s 100 (9.58) and 200 metres (19.19) record on his way to World Championships glory, and Sanya Richards, winner of the 400m in Berlin and a share of the Golden league jackpot, are highly favoured for the titles.
