KINGSTON: Usain Bolt, Olympics and World sprint double champion, said he will be toning down come next season.

Over the past two seasons, Bolt, who ran world record times of 9.69 and 19.30 to take the Olympics sprint double in Beijing, returned in August to lower those marks by running 9.58 and 19.19 at the Berlin World Championships.

On both occasions, Bolt ran the third leg on Jamaica’s 4×100m winning team, in Beijing 37.10 for a new world record.

However, come 2010 when there is no Major Championships, Bolt said while he still want to win races, it would be in his best interest toning down.

“We’ll definitely win races and try to do our best but we don’t really want to do too much, because after the upcoming season we have World Championships and the Olympics and I have to defend my titles, so I’m going to take it easy next season,” he said.

In the past season, Bolt had nine 100m races, five 200m, one 150m, two 400m and five 4×100m while in 2008, he had nine 100m, six 200m, one 400m and one 4×100m races.

Well, well, now Bolt is saying the something that Michael Johnson said and guys here want to kill the man, saying he must leave Bolt alone…

Now, Bolt is saying it, so lets see what the same posters are going to say…

I for one, question Michael Johnson statement, It wasn’t about toning down I had a problem with. It was the statement that track is gaining fan support in the US and if Bolt continues to dominate it might turn off fans. This statement I had a problem with. Athletes and teams should not stop because thay are winning. An athlete can use the off year to rest and be prepared for the year after. This I have no problem with. So Vangipurappu, be careful about generalizing people statements. I was selective in what I criticized.

Michael knows because he did it at a high level for many years and he broke one of the most difficult records in track and field: the 400 meter.

I am an ex-athlete and went to college in the US. The problem i have with the Americans and the way how they think is that they have an arrogance to feel that they should win or be on top ” ALL THE TIME ” and when they are not they are so perturbed that they will make statements and utterances like for instance what some American ex-athletes have said like Michael Johnson, Carl Lewis etc. Nothing is wrong in wanting to be the best at what one is good at but also it is the type of attitude that i made refrence to ( about wanting to win all the time at any cost ) that often times gets the Americans into trouble where to achieve their desire or goal to win at any cost they will even use banned substances to do so and not depend on their God given tallents, dedication and very hard work to achieve said goals. In Jamaica their is a saying that goes ” today fi yu and tomorrow fi mi” and “every dog has his day” and also “craven kill puppy dog”…..
